Lila Chitayat is an architect, New Media artist and an experimental practitioner of design.

Lila Chitayat is an architect, new media artist and an experimental practitioner of design. She is a research based educator of multidisciplinary design processes and experience design.

In 2002 Lila founded LinC studio, a transdisciplinary design studio utilizing new technologies, materials and computational patterns to produce a wide range of projects and scales, including urban art installations, curation, art exhibition design, architectural space design and placemaking.

LinC Studio is a collaborative environment that blends a vast array of professions transforming information and stories into interactive experiences and spaces.

Lila has more that 2 decades of experience as a designer and artistic director of cultural projects that create a participatory platform to redefine relationships between space, human interactions, and stories. She examines the use of sound, material, technology and light as new means of communications. Her projects explore immersive spaces as places to connect between remote cities & communities from different cultural backgrounds to explore and experience as  in her pavilions, urban installations and virtual works.

worked with Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv Museum, Holon Design Museum, Haifa Museum, Musa Erez Israel Museum, Bible Lands Museum, Getaot Museum, Beit hatfuzot Museum, Science Museum Jerusalem, Hansen House Jerusalem ashdod, Holon and others.

International projects include the Ayumi Gallery Tokyo,  Il-Machine at the Ars Electronica Campus, ‘Art/ Technology/Science’  Arata Museum St.Petersburg, Kiev, Berlin New York. Lila has won the prestigious prize of ARS Electronica festival for her project Taxilink under ‘hybrid design’.

Lila is a full time senior lecturer at the Design faculty of H.I.T institute of technology teaching at the Interior Design department. Head of computational studies,  leading multidisciplinary studies, Space Installations and speculative design courses. She was a visiting professor at Shenkar School of Design,  Innovationlab at ITP NYU Tisch school, Technischen Universität Berlin . Along her practice she has been invited to participate and lecture in vast international conferences and cultural projects, as Global Shapers for the WEF, Israel German Congress,  ARS Electronica, Global Designathon works, Design week Jerusalem, EU Mic project and more.

She holds a Master in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, NY,  B.Arch from Pratt Institute, NY. and a B.Des  from Holon Inst. of Tech.

  • Mirrored Cities Berlin Tel aviv (link to site), 2021 a physical & virtual walk between cities. with: Anat Safran, Susa Pop, Michaella Vieser site specific urban installation of sound and video. Exhibited with Loving Art Making Art Tel Aviv. Curator: Avi Lubin.
  • Bustan a place of smell. A site specific art installation part of Zumu Lud 2021
  • Going Nowhere. A sitte specific art installation at the MUSA Erez Israel Museum 2020
  • Intangible Library of Jerusalem, installation, Ayumi Gallery, Tokyo  2019. Transferring a sound and video oriented ‘library’ of moments in Jerusalem.
