Fifth Wall is a mobile spatial installation that floats within the De Vinci lobby space. Functioning as a “surprise box” with dual identities, it presents a clean, minimal front facade while concealing a rich “backstage” environment behind.

The installation operates through its own choreography—expanding and contracting according to cultural programming needs and audience flow. Built on wheels, this 6-meter-long architectural element transforms to accommodate various spatial requirements:

Concept and Design: Lila Chitayat

Client: Ta Tarbut De Vinci

Fabrication and collaboration: Amit Portman

  • Day Configuration: Positioned centrally to create intimate seating corners and quiet work areas
  • Evening Events: Rotates to present a formal reception front for audiences
  • Alternative Programming: Contracts and disappears, clearing the lobby for other activities
