This project is part of a design clinic led by
architect Lila Chitayat in collaboration with the design faculty at Holon Institute of Technology H.I.T

with the amazing students: Ran Kipnis, Noa Bukai and Milli Gueta (H.I.T).

The clinic is a framework that allows for a full
experience of the design process – from
research to planning and execution. We joined the celebration of 100 years of Geddes Garden City at Leibling House.

Inspired by the urban visions of Patrick
Geddes, “Paths and Neighbors” is a
project that reimagines the shared
boundaries between neighbors in a Tel Aviv
courtyard. We conducted field observations in shared courtyards and urban passageways. We
explored where private and public spaces blur. We also investigated what neighborliness can look like. Such moments can create opportunities for connection and community life.

Along the fence between the Liebling House
and the Balder House (31 Idelson St.), we
translated our ideas into a physical intervention.

We attached ceramic modules to the existing fence. This formed a subtle line that adds a sense of privacy. It still invites interaction between neighbors.
